Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ)
GTZ has been operating in South Africa since 1993. The cooperation focuses on
- Governance and Administration,
- Skills Development
- Climate and Energy,
and is implemented in consultation with the South African Government and on behalf of the German Federal Government. In addition, the fight against the HIV/AIDS pandemic as a major cross-cutting issue is supported by GTZ.
GTZ is closely co-ordinating with DED, InWent, KfW and other German development organisations active in the country. South Africa’s remarkable international engagement in peace and development initiatives on the African continent and the South African Government’s interest in co-operating with international partners have offered new opportunities for GTZ such as trilateral co-operation and assistance rendered to the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD), the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) and the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM). Furthermore, GTZ is involved in support activities towards the World Cup 2010TM with its ‘Youth Development through Football (YDF) project and its ‘Study and Expert Fund 2010’.
GTZ’s Head Office is in Eschborn, near Frankfurt/Main. The company maintains offices in 92 countries. In South Africa it is represented through its Office in Pretoria.
