Film release: The German Development Service (DED) in South Africa – close to the people. Discover stories aside from the World Cup stadiums.

(Bonn/Pretoria, 21.05.2010) The German Development Service (DED) in South Africa introduces itself: As part of its programme for visiting journalists and politicians during the FIFA World Cup 2010, the DED produced a film that pictures its work in South Africa. The film presents the work of the DED in various projects.

The film „The German Development Service in South Africa – close to the people“ allows the viewer to inform himself/herself about the work of the DED in South Africa.
At the same time the film highlights the situation in South Africa in its most important areas – such as education, democratisation, overcoming of apartheid, HIV&AIDS and rural development.
The following projects are part of the film:

• Building bridges – urban development in Stutterheim: Overcome outcomes of the apartheid.
• Makana Goat Project: The poor farming families in Grahamstown pin all their hopes on these goats.
• King Hintsa Further Education College: Support of FET Colleges in the Eastern Cape.
• loveLife: HIV-prevention initiative for young people.
• Strengthening media & civil society: Support of local community media.
• Weltwärts with DED – Keiskamma Trust: New Hope for Hamburg.
